Climate Diplomacy Intern – Gender on Climate Change, Global Stocktake, and Mitigation Work Programme (MWP)
Naomi mulai bergabung sebagai Climate Diplomacy Intern di IRID, sejak Juni 2025 – Desember 2025. Naomi mengkaji isu Gender dan Perubahan Iklim, The outcomes of the first Global Stocktake (GST) – concluded at COP28 in Dubai – show that progresses have been made towards achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement. The projected global temperature increases – with the NDCs – is between 2.1°C and 2.8°C, from the expected 4oC in the absence of the climate actions. However, it is still insufficient to achieve the 1,5oC goals. The significant gap emphasizes the urgent need to do more ambitious climate actions, both in adaptation and mitigation. The GST then underscores the need for Parties to enhance their climate actions and stresses the importance of ensuring the just and sustainable transition on mitigation, to be reflected in Parties’ upcoming NDCs.
The GST outcomes, as mandated by the Paris Agreement, shall inform Parties in updating and enhancing their climate actions indicated in the NDCs. This means that in updating its NDC, Indonesia is expected to ensure that its Second NDC (SNDC) accommodates the results of the first GST, particularly in the energy sector. With that context, Indonesia Research Institute for Decarbonization (IRID) held a discussion on "Aligning Indonesia’s Climate Actions in the Energy Sector with the Paris Agreement" to gather more information and understanding from various stakeholders regarding the issue. The discussion was held on July 4th 2024 in Jakarta.
