Background
IRID (Indonesia Research Institute for Decarbonization) is an Indonesia-based think tank focusing on policy analysis and policy advocacy to support decarbonization and resilience
society. As an open and neutral organization, IRID supports gender equity, two out of four its co-founders are women. IRID will employ and treat people based on their capabilities that suites to the need of the organization, not based on their gender, ethnicity, nor religion.
Established on 13 December 2020 in Jakarta, Indonesia, IRID was founded with a strong vision to continuously promote decarbonized and climate resilient development, not only in
Indonesia, but also at the global level. IRID works in the areas of, but not limited to, climate
policy and negotiation, carbon market, renewable energy policy and development, climate
finance as well as environment and climate law. IRID also aims to not only raise awareness
but also to build capacity of relevant stakeholders to make them able to actively contribute
in the effort to achieve decarbonized and climate resilient societies.

To achieve our vision, IRID is currently looking for a Communications Coordinator, with the
following tasks and requirements.

Under the direct supervision of Policy Advocacy Director, the Communications Coordinator
will undertake the following tasks:

1. Contribute to the planning, design and implementation of internal and external strategies for communication, public engagement, and outreach:
+ Lead the development and implementation of IRID’s communication and public engagement strategy and work plan;
+ Draft press releases, fact sheets, talking points, reports, information materials, newsletter,
presentations, blogs and key messages, in coordination with Policy Advocacy Officers and Researchers;
+ Coordinate the design and maintenance of the IRID’s communication products, including
printed, website and digital engagement tools;
+ Prepare and disseminate publications to key stakeholders, including donors, government
counterparts and the media; and
+ Ensure that all IRID’s external communications have a consistent style, tone and
branding.

2. Devise and follow a public engagement plan for promoting the activities of IRID:
+ Manage digital engagement with key audiences via IRID’s website and social media
channels;
+ Serve as a focal point for media and public inquiries;
+ Develop blog posts and content for IRID’S website, ensuring consistency of materials
and messages, in coordination with Policy Advocacy Officers and Researchers;
+ Regularly monitor references to IRID in online and print media; and
+ Maintain regular contact with media partners, covering print, TV, radio and web

3. Monitor trends and latest developments relevant to data innovation and IRID’s activities:
+ Maintain a monthly monitoring and evaluation report of IRID’s communication outputs;
+ Track publications, events, conferences and statements of interest to IRID;
+ Keep IRID’s senior management team abreast of upcoming activities in the work plan;
and
+ Liaise and maintain regular contact with key stakeholders.

4. Support IRID’s business development:
+ Assist in the organization of events (for example workshops, webinars, etc.);
+ Assist with the preparation of other project materials, including donor reports, talking
points and official statements as requested; and
+ Provide timely and effective responses to inquiries for public information materials.

5. Administrative matters, which shall be conducted in coordination with operational and
finance team:

+ To work on administration required for relevant consultants/vendors. Several tasks
related to this, not limited to drafting the scope of work of relevant consultants/vendors,
including payment request;
+ Should the Communications Coordinator need to conduct travel, s/he will be required
to prepare all administrative requirements in coordination with operational and finance
team;
+ Managing the Communications team to deliver all communications outputs.

Selection criteria:

+ Master’s degree and minimum five years of professional experience, or Bachelor’s degree
and at least seven years of professional experience, in a relevant discipline;
+ Experience in communicating complex technical concepts in a clear, compelling and
concise manner and developing messages that are accessible to a range of audiences;
+ Proven writing, editing and speaking skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English and an ability
to convey complex ideas in a clear, direct, and engaging style;
+ Keen understanding of the political landscape and different stakeholder groups — including civil society, media and the private sector;
+ Capacity to work simultaneously on a variety of issues and tasks independently, adjusting
to priorities and achieving results with agreed objectives and deadlines;
+ Demonstrated ability to function as a team player in a multicultural team, within and
across teams, and deliver on complex and sometimes parallel tasks on very tight deadlines;
+ Eager and willing to learn new issues, particularly related to decarbonization and climate
resilience;
+ Have basic understanding on climate change issues will be an advantage.
